No Brand Burger – 노브랜드버거

I don’t get out much these days, so no longer have my finger on the pulse of what is new in Korea, so this one kind of slipped past me. However, I was walking around the SquareOne shopping mall in Dongchun-dong yesterday and saw a new burger shop, No Brand Burger. It’s slogan is literally “It’s Good Enough”, which I admire for not trying to oversell. Anyway, I was with all three of my kids, which means I didn’t stop to try it (besides the expense of feeding a ravening pack of children, trying to sit down and eat with them is inevitably a disaster so I basically never eat outside home anymore), but the menu looks all right and the prices seem reasonable.

Anyway, there appears to only be 11 of these guys out in the wild right now, but if you happened across one and tried it, I’d like to know how it was – particularly that Meatmania burger, which both looks fantastic and has a wonderful name.

I’ve had it a couple times. I rank it above Lotteria, but below McDonalds or Burger King. The burgers are pretty simple, which I prefer. The cheese they use on the cheeseburgers is really bad, so in the future I’ll avoid it. The fries are surprisingly really good. It’s definitely worth a try if you pass by one, but certainly not worth seeking it out.

Coming home from the 보건소 yesterday, I realized there was one a block from my apartment. The service wasn’t particularly speedy, but it was reasonably priced, and at least “good enough”, although I did scrape off some of the excess sauce.

And the fries were more than good enough!

That’s the Signature burger. I’ll eat from there again.

Yeah they recently opened one up nearby my apartment as well. I like it, and I like the implied end of the slogan “It’s good enough” (for you, you piece of trash). Or maybe I just have low self esteem these days hahaha.

In other Songdo news, a KFC finally opened here, so things are looking up. Also, a UFO burger, but I don’t think it has the whole ‘orgasmic’ signage on the door. TBH I have never had the UFO burger, because at that price there are tons of ‘fancy’ burger places in Songdo that I can eat at and have a 12,000w beer to boot (of course you know me well enough to know that I am too much of a skinflint to do that, Mr. C).
