My updated materials for this lesson (well, they removed “should” but I’ve kept it in a few places, because I think 6th graders should know “should”…):
-vocab review ppt with games
-read-aloud story in which Lenny and Carl try to convince Homer Simpson to be healthier
-Place Your Bets, full instructions, student favorite at my school
-grid game w ocean theme
-“Nick walks his dog every day” sentence maze activity about Nick’s routine–not a word search, if you’ve never done one, try it in advance
-another vocab review, w even/odd game
-Station game, instructions included, kids love it
-Words for Songs, I’ve pulled soundbites from songs that contain key vocab words, Ss try to fill in the blank by listening
-warm-ups: 4 pics, one sentence (lquite lenient on exact matches); rebus solving; English Cup soccer-themed unscramble-round 1 words, round 2 sentence; Knights and Dragons themed sentence unscramble

-“Letterlitter” like that “odd one out” game where Ss have to ignore the extra letters to make the word or sentence
-PPT-based crossword warm-up; originally designed for Zoom, but can pick a number they want, you show the picture clue and they write it down–read the instructions.
